Therapy where  you  need it: Individual Teletherapy & EMDR Therapy Services

Healing from the root up:

Individual Counseling and EMDR Therapy Services (Statewide in Pennsylvania)

EMDR

(Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR

EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is a "from the root up" therapy approach, originally created to assist in the healing process of PTSD. Now, through research, it has been proven to significantly reduce stress, anxiety, overwhelm, perfectionism and more! EMDR therapy is effective, timely, and truly can get "to the root".

By stimulating both sides of the brain, this therapeutic approach can help you experience symptom reduction and, in some cases, elimination. What is really impressive about EMDR though, is its potential to create long-lasting results. It does address symptoms, but also goes further than that - it heals the root cause, which then impacts your everyday functioning.

The difference

While talk therapy is known to be effective in a lot of cases, EMDR therapy provides a deeper healing experience. Your EMDR Therapist will walk you through 8 different phases of treatment, ensuring every step of the way that you feel safe, comfortable, and grounded. The counselor will act as your "anchor", keeping you grounded in the present moment while you take temporary glances into the past. These glances give you an opportunity to revisit the past, in a safe manner, to heal from previous experiences.

EMDR Formats

It can be! EMDR is offered in a few different formats here, at Rooted.

All are provided through the virtual convenience of telehealth, so that you can create the most comfortable space possible from wherever you do sessions. Grab your favorite tea or coffee, the fuzziest blanket you can find, your pet, some good smelling candles or essential oils, etc. and get cozy.

EMDR is typically offered in the following formats, though adjustments are available based on individual need:

One 60-minute session per week

One 2-hour session per week

Intensive Option:

1-5 half and/or full days of healing

*Length of days depends on your therapeutic goals and unique needs

Take your pick!

Many factors go into which format may best suit your needs, including but not limited to: therapeutic goals, complex trauma vs. an isolated trauma, financial investment, and time commitment.

Regarding which is better, in general:

Traditional EMDR (weekly) - relief and healing may be experienced over time, in a few weeks/months

EMDR Intensives - relief and healing may be experienced and noticeable in a short amount of time, but with a similar lasting impact that you'd recieve from weekly sessions

*With that being said, everyone's process is different and unique!

Busy professionals, moms, and  those desiring a faster-paced experience may opt for the Intensive format, as its time commintment is temporary, the fiancial commitment is more afforadable (when compared to longer-term therapy), and the multi-hour and/or multi-day format allows for consistent momentum and focus.

For some, it may be easier the carve out a day or two to devote to an intensive (i.e., consider using some of that saved-up PTO, having your spouse or a family member take the kids on a daycation, etc.) rather than having an every-week commitment. Plus, carving out the intentional time for an intensive may allow you to integrate some additional self care before, during, and/or after  the process- before having to jump back into work or parenting duties! Think: enjoying your favorite snack or beverage, lighting that candle that never gets lit, listening to your preferred music (no "baby shark", here!), reading or journaling UNINTERUPPTED! Yes, please!

Investing in your wellness

1-hour and 2-hour sessions are a self-investment of $115 per hour:

1-hour session = $115

2-hour session = $230

Intensives start at $300

*See "Intensive" Blog Article for a detailed breakdown of what's included, a guide to which option may be best for you, and how the rates differ.

Will insurance cover the cost of EMDR Therapy?

While insurance will (likely) cover the cost of 1-hour weekly sessions, most insurances do not cover the cost of an EMDR Intensive.

Addressing the Past, Present, & Future

While healing isn't linear, the combination of

processing the past, being present, and becoming intentional about your future

all work together for deeper healing.
